Dr. Janice P. Pauley — Dayton, OH — Pain Evaluation & Management Center

Dr. Janice P. Pauley

I am a board certified Anesthesiologist and Interventional Pain Specialist. I graduated with a medical degree from The Ohio State University in 1987. My anesthesia training with emphasis in pain management was completed in 1991. I have managed acute and chronic pain for over 25 years. I practiced anesthesia and pain management at many hospitals in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio. During that time, I learned several techniques and systems that have provided me with leading qualities as a physician. Working within many hospital systems helped me become a an expert problem solver. Over the years, I supervised many anesthesia residents, CRNA’s- Certified registered nurse anesthetists- and taught EMT’s- Emergency Medical technicians-airway management. In 2013 I joined PEMCO- Pain Management Center of Ohio.

I then decided to dedicate my time solely to chronic pain management. At PEMCO, we utilize physical therapy, massage therapy, manual therapy, acupuncture, psychological therapy, injections, radiofrequency ablation, spinal cord stimulators and implantable pain pumps to manage extremely difficult pain syndromes. We also specialize in Workman’s Compensation cases and work closely with community attorneys to get the best treatment for these patients. The PEMCO team consists of many well trained medical assistants, physical therapy specialists, a psychologist, many qualified CNP’s- Certified nurse practitioners, and 3 very experienced physicians. I am dedicated to helping patients improve their lives and increase their activities of daily living. Being a Dayton native I understand the difficulties many Ohioans face.

If you are feeling that pain is adversely affecting your life I strongly urge you to try PEMCO and allow us to work with you. The only thing you have to lose is the pain.

Dr. Tammy Dann — Dayton, OH — Pain Evaluation & Management Center

Dr. Tammy Dann

I knew early on in my schooling that I wanted to be a pain physician and wanted to be able to provide my future patients with a well rounded approach to managing their pain. After attending medical school at the founding osteopathic medical school in Kirksville, Missouri, I completed an anesthesiology and critical care residency at St. Louis University, followed by an Interventional Pain Management fellowship at the University of Iowa. Prior to attending medical school I also obtained a Masters’ Degree in Public Health from the University of Minnesota.

I am currently board certified in anesthesiology and critical care as well as interventional pain management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. I have thus been provided with the tools to treat pain with a combination of osteopathic manipulation, injections, implantable therapies and medications. I am specifically interested in treatments for chronic regional pain syndrome, as well as management of implantable therapies including nerve stimulators and pain pumps. I have given lectures at national conferences and am involved with various anesthesia and pain societies in order to remain well versed in the best and most beneficial pain treatments for my patients.

In my free time, I enjoy volunteering at my children’s schools, running and spending time with my husband, four children, dog and two cats.

Kathi Flanders MS, CNP

I have always enjoyed working in a social environment. My interest in helping others led me to the health care field. I ultimately decided to get my bachelor of science in nursing from the University of Cincinnati in 1995. I went on to University of Cincinnati’s masters in nursing program of which I graduated with my masters of science in nursing in 1997. My career as a nurse practitioner began shortly following my degree. I’ve worked in nursing for over 25 years and pain management for over seven years. I enjoy helping patients find the source of pain and providing treatment options to help every person live as free from pain as possible.

I have an active social life and I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I especially take pleasure in spending time with my grandchildren that I see as much as possible. My husband and I enjoy traveling and spending time on the beach. I also enjoy taking quiet time to read.

Joni Abramczyk, MSN, CNP

I have been in the field of nursing for 7.5 years, spending my first 3 years caring for those with various cardiac and pulmonary issues and my last 4.5 years working at Soin Medical Center in an outpatient/inpatient procedural area. I obtained my undergraduate nursing degree from Wright State University in 2009 and my master's degree from Chamberlain University in 2016. Though I am a new nurse practitioner, I am not new to those with acute and chronic pain for 4.5 years, it was those connections I made with patients and the progress I seen over the years that led me to pursue a career in pain management.

In my off time I enjoy spending time with family, binge-watching my favorite shows on Netflix with my husband, playing games with my daughter, watching her at gymnastics, and appreciating the outdoors. I look forward to traveling more and creating new memories with my family.

Derek McMurry, DC, FNP-BC, NP-C

I came to Ohio in 1999 and worked as a chiropractor until 2014. For the first two years, I was also with an orthopedic group in Cincinnati. I experienced a large patient base who suffered from chronic pain in my practice. During those years, referral relationships were established with neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery, and pain management as well as physical therapy.

In 2003 I was compelled to learn more about automotive crash reconstruction due to the large number of personal injury patients I was seeing. That was accomplished through the Spine Research Institute of San Diego where I earned the ACR certificate. In 2007 I became an affiliate member of the Society of Automotive Engineers to keep an edge on automotive technical information with respect to crash dynamics and occupant injury.

Over time I became most interested in pain management. As such, I fast-tracked my BSN in 15 months at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene Texas in 2009. In December 2012 I graduated from Samford University with my MSN as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I completed this degree to specifically work in pain management. Shortly after graduation, I passed the board exams with ANCC and AANP and I've been working in pain management since January 2012.

In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, shooting, and being with my family.

Keith Rost — Dayton, OH — Pain Evaluation & Management Center

Keith Rost, Director of Physical Therapy

I have worked as the Director of Physical Therapy at PEMCO for the over 19 years and have been in the physical medicine field for over 28 years. As long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about physical medicine and nutrition health. I earned my associates degree in exercise science in 1989 and my degree in radiological science in 1995. I also attended Wright State University where I studied athletic training. I have certifications in spinal rehab from the University of Florida as well functional training/manual therapy, among others. My focus is integrating conventional physical therapy procedures and modalities with integrative alternative pain management options. I was one of the first in the Dayton area to implement the homeopathic anti-inflammatory medicine Traumeel with Iontophoresis for effective pain relief.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three children. Our kids are involved in athletic and academic programs which keep us very busy. I have enjoyed coaching my kids in sports throughout the years and guiding them to be the best they can be. I love all sports, strength training, and improving my knowledge of nutritional health and wellness. To keep my skills fine-tuned I often attend training/certification seminars in physical medicine and nutrition in hopes to educate our patients at PEMCO.
